In the last stretch toward getting my Bachelor's of Science in Film Production at the University of Texas at Austin, the College of Communication decided to rename my degree so that it would read Bachelor of Science in Radio, Television, and Film. Far easier to write BS in RTF than to write or explain the rest, but I wish that the F came first. Now, I did run a radio show at Southern Methodist University... but it wasn't really broadcast outside the immediate campus area. I called my show "Psychohead Blowout" after an early album by White Zombie. I played an eclectic mix of things to say the least. Everything from the Pogues soundtrack to Straight to Hell to Public Enemy produced Son of Bazerk with "Change the Style" made it across my playlist. The manager of our student shows was Rockin' Rita. Rita is now managing the Magnolia Theater after leaving her attempts to revolutionize D magazine and the Hispanic Film Festival. I haven't captured any of the cassette-taped shows I did for Rockin Rita, but I can promise you that I got the attention of the campus when I was on-air.

I still need a reel, but all I have to showcase my voice are these wacky one-off things I did to mess with other people online while arguing with them at assorted message boards. The first bit of audio antagonism titled "Kullprit" was going after this kid who proselytized all things related to Pantera. I've never liked those dope smoking Okies, so I shot 'em all down in 20 seconds while pretending to be Kurt Loder (who I actually like a lot).

The second offering is harder to explain, but I'll include it anyway. At a particular reactionary message board created to host all things normally prohibited at a larger board there is an "Adult" forum. Not to say that it ever comes to any strange trafficking, but it does marginalize and thus quarantine the inevitable naked picture postings that come from the stile project and would otherwise invade and ruin other forums at any board. There was a stint where the forum moderator went missing for over a week, so I made a mock eulogy for him. Hence "cigar_eulogy."

At the same forum was a member using the handle Nemesis who swung wildly from useful fan-based enthusiasm to scatalogically absurd ranting. I challenged her to defend writing needlessly retarded stuff all the time, and the other members re-christened her "nemeshits" during the process. Because I thought her new handle was much funnier, I did yet another mock broadcast designed solely to humiliate and enrage this poor girl. So we get "nemesis" from this.

I wasn't really trying to sell soap with this voice, rather I was trying to adjutate more discussion... even if it was heated angry debate. I'm not apologizing for these recordings. They did what I intended for them to do. Maybe you think these recordings are funny... maybe not. All I know is that these do demonstrate that in my speaking I am clear and do not use crutch exhalations like "uh" or "um."
